our mission

West Texas Aces Volleyball Club was established in 2024 in Howard County, Texas to develop competitive local athletes looking to reach their full potential. Our coaching approach is simple: We don’t expect perfect results, but we do expect perfect effort and commitment. We emphasize fundamentals, communication, volleyball IQ, and leadership on and off the court. We strive to instill the love of hard work and discipline to achieve excellence and develop resilience and confidence for life-long success.  WTA is a member of the Sun Country Region Volleyball Association covering West Texas and Eastern New Mexico.

Meet THE CLUB DIRECTORS

  • Coach Lindsay has always been deeply passionate about the game of volleyball. She began playing in 3rd grade at the encouragement of her mom, a former teammate of Olympic silver medalist Rose Magers at Big Spring High School in the 1970s. Summers were spent training at Texas Tech volleyball camps, where her love for the game and commitment to hard work grew stronger every year.

As a three-year starting setter on Varsity at Big Spring High School (Class of 2004), Coach Lindsay led her team to an undefeated District Championship and two Semi-Quarter Final playoff appearances—the first in 26 years for the program. She earned multiple honors including 1st Team All-District, All-Permian Basin, and All-West Texas, as well as Best Setter and Best Server of the District. These accomplishments were built on discipline, perseverance, and an unwavering dedication to the game and her beloved teammates.

In the off-season, she played four years with West Texas Juniors while also balancing cheerleading, basketball, and softball. Her strong work ethic earned her an invitation to play collegiate volleyball at Austin College, where she competed in two NCAA Division III tournaments and advancing to the Elite 8 match both times.

Even while pursuing volleyball at a high level, Coach Lindsay prioritized her education. She double-majored in International Economics & Finance and Spanish, studying abroad in Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Australia to become fluent in Spanish. She also joined a public-service-focused sorority, which ignited a two-decade’s long passion for serving her community.

Coach Lindsay later graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2013 and has served as a prosecutor in her hometown of Big Spring for over a decade. In 2023, she was elected Howard County Attorney, where she continues to uphold justice with integrity, compassion and dedication.

In 2019, she married Howard College professor Heath Wilkerson, and together they are raising two adventurous boys, Huck and Jake.

Last year, Coach Lindsay joined WTA Volleyball Club as a certified Level 1 Head Coach and Level 1 Setters Coach. This season, she is most excited about instilling in her athletes the values that have shaped her own journey—a love for the game, the discipline to put in the work, the integrity to lead with character, and the commitment to serve others both on and off the court.

Throughout her career, Coach Sunni has helped numerous athletes improve their skills, grow their love for the game, and pursue opportunities at the collegiate level. Her coaching style emphasizes discipline, communication, and a strong team-first mentality.

With a background in both coaching and playing, Sunni blends technical precision with a high-energy, supportive approach that motivates players to push their limits while enjoying the journey.

“My goal is to build not just better volleyball players, but better people—resilient, focused, and ready to succeed both on and off the court.”

Sunni is committed to fostering a positive, competitive environment where athletes are challenged, empowered, and inspired every step of the way.

  • Katlin Strickland is a lifelong athlete, dedicated coach, licensed practical nurse, and passionate community advocate. With a foundation built on years of competitive sports and a heart for service, Katlin brings energy, leadership, and care to every role she takes on.

From an early age, Katlin excelled in athletics, competing in travel softball from ages 8 to 16 and club volleyball from 12 to 15. She was a standout three-sport varsity athlete at Big Spring High School and Pine Tree High School from 2004 to 2007, lettering in volleyball, softball, and track & field. Katlin currently holds the Big Spring High School girls’ pole vault record of 11 feet, set in 2006 — a record that still stands today.

Her track and field success reached state and national levels, including placing 6th at the 4A UIL Texas State Championships and competing in the prestigious Great Southwest Track and Field Classic in 2007. She was also named to the THSCA Super Elite Track and Field Team the same year. Katlin continued her athletic career at Abilene Christian University, where she vaulted a personal best of 12 feet 6 inches and was part of the team that won both the Lone Star Conference and NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2008.

Her personal best in women’s pole vault was 12 feet 9¾ inches.

Over the past 11 years, Katlin has translated her athletic background into coaching, leading competitive recreational league teams and coaching club volleyball. Her coaching style is rooted in discipline, motivation, and a deep understanding of what it takes to excel — on and off the field.

Outside of sports, Katlin is a proud Licensed Practical Nurse, serving the Howard County community for 14 of her 16 years in nursing. She currently works with Home Hospice as a field nurse, Volunteer Coordinator, Community Educator, and Relations Liaison. Her dedication to care and compassion extends beyond the clinic, as she actively contributes to the community through her role as an Ambassador for the local Chamber of Commerce.

Katlin and her husband, Robert — a fourth-generation welder and fabricator — are proud parents of three children: Aubrey, Kaden, and Hagen. Together, they stay involved in the communities they love and serve, living a life grounded in family, hard work, and gratitude.

Meet the COACHES

A young woman wearing a floral dress and heels, sitting on a stone bench in a park with autumn trees and sunlight in the background.
  • I’m Olivia Bancroft-Nieto, a proud Big Spring native with a lifelong love for volleyball. I first picked up the game in 6th grade and quickly fell in love, playing both school volleyball and travel ball every year after. Before starting my own family, I spent a year coaching little league volleyball which deepened my passion for developing young athletes.
Now, as a mom of two daughters just 10 months apart (both under two!), I balance family life with coaching and my professional career. I’ve been married for three years, hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s in Finance, and currently work in Payroll Accounting & HR at Region 18 ESC. I’m looking forward to sharing my love of the game and inspiring players to grow in skill, confidence, and teamwork.

  • Brooklyn Hyatt has been playing volleyball since she could walk and has developed into a true all-around player, excelling in every position on the court. She not only plays every position with confidence, but has also studied the sport to deepen her understanding of the game. A proud graduate of Big Spring High School, she was a member of the Lady Steers Varsity team from 2020 to 2024. She also competed in travel ball with XTREME, starting in 6th grade and continuing through 2023, where she further sharpened her skills and competitive edge. Known for her leadership on the court, Brooklyn encourages teammates, sets the tone with her energy, and leads by example.

Off the court, Brooklyn works with the Howard County Sheriff’s Office and is a proud mom to her daughter, Nevaeyla — a bright, energetic, and playful little girl who keeps life fun and full of joy. Nevaeyla already loves being around the volleyball court and brings a lot of energy and smiles!!  Brooklyn is also passionate about giving back to the game she loves and is excited to share her knowledge by coaching and mentoring young girls in volleyball. Balancing family, career, and her passion for the sport, Brooklyn continues to inspire those around her with her versatility, commitment, and drive.

  • My journey in volleyball began at age 8 in the local youth league, where I quickly discovered my love for the sport. I went on to play for Barefoot Volleyball Club throughout my junior high and high school years, experiences that shaped both my skills and my passion for teamwork and competition. After moving to the Big Spring area in the fall of 2024, I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of this community and the West Texas Aces family.

Outside of volleyball, I work as the Assistant Controller at Victory Bank and enjoy spending time with my six (and counting!) nieces and nephews. I’m also a big sports fan, and since my wife coaches at BSJH, you can often find us cheering on her teams and supporting the Big Spring Steers throughout the year.

I am excited to join the West Texas Aces for the 2026 season and share my passion for the game with the athletes!
